The Nikon D3200 Is Available For Purchase Now.....

Nikon's popular D3100 D-SLR is finally being put out to pasture. The newly announced D3200 looks a lot like the previous model on the outside, but a few key differences differentiate the two cameras.

The most obvious is the sensor—the D3200 packs a 24-megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor, up from the 14 megapixels found in the D3100. Its Expeed 3 image processor supports shooting at 4 frames per second. You can opt to shoot at ISO 100 through 6400, with 12800 available as an expanded mode, and the 11-point autofocus system will help to keep your shots sharply in focus.

The camera retains the D3100's Guide Mode, which walks novice shooters through camera settings in order to help them get the best shot possible. A large, 3-inch LCD, packed with 921k dots, adorns the rear of the camera. Live View is supported, as is 1080p30 and 1080p24 video recording with full-time autofocus. New to this model is a microphone input jack, so you are no longer limited to the camera's internal microphone.

The company also announced a Wi-Fi add-on accessory for the D3200. The WU-1a Wireless Mobile Adapter clips into the side of the camera to add wireless file transfer and shutter control. You can transfer files directly from the camera to your smartphone, and control the camera using your phone from up to 50 feet away. An Android app will be available in late May, with an iOS app set to follow in late autumn.

Panasonic's New Software Will Be Available For Purchase Soon....

Panasonic has introduced a software upgrade to augment the recording and shooting functions of its popular AG-AF100 Large Imager HD Cinema Camcorder.

The upgrade which will be called AG-SFU100 will enable acquisition in the 1080/60p and 1080/50p HD recording formats (in new 28Mbps PS mode), and will substitute the 2.39:1 aspect ratio marking for the current 2.35 marker.

Recording in the high-resolution 1080/60p and /50p master-quality formats is rapidly gaining popularity in broadcasting, sports and scientific analysis.

The 2.39:1 marker in the AF100’s viewfinder/LCD monitor will be valuable for narrative and documentary shooters, as it is a standard aspect ratio for presenting films in movie theaters.

The AG-SFU100 software will be available in May.The AF100 incorporates a large 4/3-inch, 16:9 MOS imager (with an imaging area just slightly smaller than 35mm cinema film) that minimizes skew with fast imager scanning, and incorporates an optical low pass filter for elimination of aliasing and moiré.

Prior to the upgrade, the camcorder recorded 1080 at 60i, 50i, 30p, 25p (Native) and 24p (Native), and 720 at 60p, 50p, 30p, 25p and 24p native in AVCHD’s highest-quality PH mode (maximum 24Mbps).

The AF100 also records in AVCCAM’s HA (17Mbps) and HE (6Mbps) modes, 1080i only. Ready for global production standards, the camcorder is 60Hz and 50Hz switchable.

Equipped with an interchangeable micro 4/3-inch lens mount, the AF100 can utilize an array of low-cost, widely-available still camera lenses as well as film-style lenses with fixed focal lengths and primes.

Variable frame rates (VFR) are available in 1080/24p or 30p at 60Hz and 1080/25p at 50Hz, selectable in 20 steps from 12p to 60p at 60Hz and 20 steps from 12p to 50p at 50Hz.

The camcorder has a built-in stereo microphone and features two mic/lines, switchable XLR inputs with +48V Phantom Power capability.

The Canon Rebel T4i will be coming out soon....

Information regarding the next Rebel is quite scattered. The only confirmed feature so far is that it will be available with a new 18-135 lens with a silent auto-focus motor as the new feature of the lens.

The new Rebel might have a new auto-focus feature for video recording as well. For a camera that is consumer aimed, it would be a welcomed feature to those wanting to shoot video.

There has also been a few suggestions the next Rebel will have a touchscreen and built in WiFi. Niether feature can be confirmed at this time either.

We’re probably going to see T4i/650D info and an announcement after the 5D Mark III begins shipping across the globe. It’s possible a new Rebel could arrive by the end of April.

Canon has released a specialized version of its popular EOS 60D D-SLR that has been optimized for taking photos of objects in outer space.

The EOS 60Da uses the same 18-megapixel APS-C image sensor that is found in the 60D, a vast improvement over the company’s last astrocamera, the 8.2-megapixel EOS 20Da.

The camera’s image sensor has been fine-tuned for extra sensitivity to the hydrogen-alpha wavelength and uses a modified infrared sensor.

This makes it possible to capture images of red hydrogen emissions from nebulae and other celestial objects.

Astronomers and enthusiasts will appreciate the enhanced capabilities of an already excellent camera.
